• Korean Accreditation Program For Hospitals Serving Foreign Patients : A certification program for medical insititutions that attrat foreign patients.
  - To cerfify outstanding medical institutions through the evaluation of service quality and patient safety for medical institutions that participate in attract foreign patients and improve the quality of medical service.

• 2016 Pilot Project Implementation
• 2017~2018 1st cycle Operation of Evaluation Designation System
• 2019~2020 2nd cycle Operation of Evaluation Designation System
• 2021~2022 3rd cycle Operation of Evaluation Designation System
• 2023~2026 Currently operating the 4th Cycle Evaluation and Certification System

• According to the revision of the Medical Overseas Expansion Act, the certification system has been renamed as the “Evaluation and Certification System” starting from December 2022.

Evaluation Targets

• Medical institutions among those attracting foreign patients that aspire to undergo evaluation

• Medical institutions of hospital level or above must obtain Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation (KOIHA) according to Article 58 of the Medical Act in order to be eligible for application.

Evaluation System

• Foreign patient profiling system (44 criteria, including activities and management related to attracting and managing foreign patients, interpretation, etc.)
• Patient safety system (92 criteria, including ensuring patient safety, management of medication, infection control, facilities, etc.)
