  • 01 Introduction
    • About the Institution

Founded in 1985, KMI Korea Medical Institute is Korea's leading institution specializing in health check-ups, contributing to the promotion of public health and the early detection of disease based on check-up expertise and operational know-how accumulated over approximately 40 years.

KMI operates health check-up centers at 8 major locations nationwide, including Seoul (Gwanghwamun, Yeouido and Gangnam), Suwon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju and Jeju, and in 2024 it opened an overseas center in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, expanding its business as a global health check-up institution.

KMI does not treat health check-ups as mere testing, but operates them as an integrated health management system that extends to disease prevention and linkage to early treatment. In particular, based on national and comprehensive check-up systems for the early detection of major cancers such as stomach, colorectal, liver, breast, cervical and lung cancer, KMI provides customized check-up services tailored to each examinee's health condition.

      Medical Care and Check-up System

KMI introduced KICS (KMI Intelligent Comprehensive medical Checkup System), Korea's first intelligent health check-up system, and operates the entire process, from check-up booking to result review, on a digital basis.

Customer convenience has been enhanced through electronic medical questionnaires, RFID-based check-up flow management and online result services, which have completely eliminated paper questionnaires and significantly reduced examinee waiting times and result processing times.

In addition, the KMI Central Analysis Center is a specialized laboratory that has simultaneously obtained excellent laboratory accreditation in both laboratory medicine and pathology, and provides accurate and rapid test results based on an advanced Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) system.

KMI operates a variety of in-house diagnostic systems, including blood tests, histology and cytology tests, molecular diagnostic tests and a digital pathology system, and its specialist physicians and laboratory staff provide systematic specimen analysis and interpretation services.

Contribution to Disease Prevention and Health Promotion

Over the past 10 years, KMI has diagnosed more than approximately 20,000 cancers at an early stage, contributing to public health through continuous health check-ups and follow-up care services.

KMI has also established a follow-up care system for those at high risk of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes after check-ups, and operates check-up programs customized by sex and age to strengthen early detection of diseases and linkage to treatment.

In particular, KMI manages examinees' health data more efficiently through its AI Smart Check-up Report service and Smart Check-up Information System, and continues to advance its ICT-based check-up environment.

Services for International Patients and Global Check-ups

KMI is also actively expanding health check-up services for international patients. It operates health check-up services for foreigners in cooperation with overseas agencies and global networks, and is strengthening the foundation of its global check-up business through its overseas center in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

In addition, to ensure smooth check-ups for international examinees, KMI provides systematic support throughout the entire process, including booking, consultation, check-up guidance and follow-up care, and is standardizing its overseas check-up services by building a global check-up information system.

      Social Contribution and Trust-Based Operations

Beyond its role as a health check-up institution, KMI continuously carries out a variety of social contribution activities. Through activities such as briquette-sharing for those in need, free check-ups for vulnerable groups and donations to social contribution projects, KMI contributes to public health and the realization of social value.

Based on these activities and operational achievements, KMI received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award (Social Contribution) and the Grand Prize in Social Contribution at the Korea Top Management Awards in 2024, and in 2025 it received a Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation for contributions to global healthcare, Family-Friendly Company certification from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and 1st and 2nd place nationwide awards for special health examinations. KMI has also ranked 1st in the check-up center category of the Korean Standards Association's Korea Standard-Wellbeing Environment Index for 6 consecutive years and won the Grand Prize in the health check-up center category of the Korea Brand Awards for 5 consecutive years, earning recognition for its trust and competitiveness as Korea's leading health check-up institution.
