Korea Medical Training Program consists of 2 parts, mainly. 

1. Pre-training ( 3 months)

- It is mandatory program for doctors to get 'hand-on practice permission' for their hands-on clinical training. Doctors still need more to get that permission, but this is legislated in Medical Law in Korea. 

- It is for 3 months; 1 month at KHIDI and 2 months at training hospital. 

a. KHIDI pre-training: provides lectures such as Program guide, Korean healthcare system, national health insurance system, medical law in Korea, and cultural/religious difference between your home country and Korea. 

b. Hospital pre-training: provides lectures like hospital system(PACs, EMR, HIS, etc.) and observational training at hospital. Trainee and professor can use this period to discuss trainee's program goal and build up detailed curriculum for trainee. 

2. Clinical Training 

- for various sub-specialty, clinical training is operated by professor and hospital. 

- hands-on practice is available but as mentioned above, since 3months of pre-training is required, applicants should be discussed with professor before clinical training begins. 

3. Certificate Issuance

At end of the training program, KHIDI issues certificate for completion of training program based on the result of qualification evaluation and professor’s decision, providing that Trainee fulfilled the terms of the academic and scientific assessment of the training program. The Certificate can be issued only once when the Trainees complete training program. Training hospitals or institutions can also issue documents (not the Certificate) to prove the participation of Trainees under the name of professor and with his signature but it will not include the official signature (or stamp) of the hospital or institution.

？- (Condition) If clinical training (excluded 3 month-pre-training) is more than 9 months, 'Certificate of Fellowship' is to be issued. If it is less than 9 months, 'Certificate of Completion' is issued. (Sample Attached)  

- (Condition) Though above mentioned period is one of the conditions for us to issue the certificate but more importantly trainer's evaluation is another one. If the professor evaluates training result is not as much as expected, then the certificate cannot be issued. Otherwise, the training period might need to be extended.
