  • What is the difference among programs?

    First, the mininum requirement to apply for the program is differenct.
    For 2 year program, the applicant should have completed 4 to 5 years of training as residentship in the applied field.

    Medical consultant or assistant who completed the training of specialist is able to apply for the 1 year program for the same specialty as he/she completed.

  • How is KMTP approval process?

    Once you apply to our system, your application is automatically to be sent to Training hospital.While hospital reviews your application, you may be requested to come to Korea for interview or video interview.After hospital approves your training with specific training schedule, next step is at KHIDI. After KHIDI approved your training program in Korea, the final step is to get an approval by your government for your training program.Thus, we need to see the 'Letter of approval and recommendation' issued by your govenment.
    Please understand that training period is not allowed to be changed due to trainee's desire.

    Getting an approval means a type of contract among applicant, training hospitals, Saudi sponsor, and KHIDI. If you need to change the period of training later with unavoidable reason, then you should submit the proofs later. Moreover, you should get the quarar from your sponsor to cover all training period, if you need to arrange your training period, plaease work on it before your training program starts.

  • How can I review my application status?

    After you apply, you can check your application status under the menu of 'My KMTP > Application Status' in the website.

  • Is the training hands-on practice available?

    According to the Medical Law in Korea, foreign doctors are not able to achieve Medical license in Korea. Instead, Korean minister of Ministry of Health and Welfare allows for foreign doctors who completed 3-month-pre-training to practice hands-on with issuing permission.
    3-month-pre-training consists of 1 month of "KHIDI pre-training" + 2 months of "Hospital pre-training".

  • What is scope of the training?

    After 3 months of pre-training (1 month of "KHIDI pre-training" + 2 months of "Hospital pre-training"), it is possible to apply for the "Hands-on Practice Permission". If trainee gets the permission by Korea Minister of Mealth and Welfare, he/she is allowed to do hands-on under the following rules; prior consent from patients, attending advising specialists, in the medical subject and the hospital which are permitted.

  • Is there any resident program?

    Unfortunately, there is only fellowship training program in Korea Medical Training Program for physicians.

  • How does professor assess the candidate?

    After review the candidate's document, professor asks him/her for the interview. It should be a face-to-face interview. THus, professor may request him/her to visit him or to meet at the international conference where both can join together. Sometimes it can be a video interview.

  • How can I get the information of hospital and faculty?

    Through the application process in the Korea Medical Training Program website, you can find the information on each hospital and department, and CV of each professor. Also you can find the e-mail address of person in charge of this program at training hospital, so you can contact him/her through e-mail for further information.

  • How can I get visa? And which type of visa will I get?

    In Korea training visa, D-4-2 type, is recommended for people who plan to study in Korea for three months or longer. Before you apply to the visa at the Korean Embassy in Saudi Arabia, KHIDI assists you to get the approval number for fast-track visa application.
