The facilitator attracting foreign patients carries out necessary services when foreign patients stay in Korea, such as finding a suitable hospital, arranging for tours, etc. The facilitator recommends the most suitable healthcare provider and arranges for a medical interpreter when there is no interpreter at the selected healthcare provider. When a foreign patient decides to receive treatment in a healthcare provider in Korea, the facilitator assists with from visa issuance to transportation of the patient from/to the airport.
Prior to patient's arrival in Korea, the facilitator makes a reservation for accommodation. The agent also arranges for pickup services in the case of an outpatient. If a foreign patient opts for a tour, the facilitator itself operates the tour. In the event of medical disputes or accidents, the facilitator handles the necessary tasks on behalf of patients. When the patient returns to his/her home country after the treatment, the facilitator collects the patient's medical records and forwards them to the patient.
The facilitator is registered as a foreign patient attraction agent with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) as required by Article 27 of the Medical Service Act. The KHIDI issues a certificate to registered facilitators, which foreign patients are advised to check.
